About

Brian Boone testified for the prosecution on Day 5 about Sarah Boone's report that Jorge Torres was dead and the sequence before she called 911. As Sarah's former husband and coparent, he had been calling about their son's school pickup. He also recalled a late-night call on February 23, 2020, during which she sounded drunk, but said he had paid little attention.

Brian said he reached Sarah around 12:30 the following day. She reported Jorge's death and asked him to come over. He described advising her to call 911 during that conversation, while traveling, and upon arrival. He estimated that he arrived about ten minutes after their first conversation and testified that she had not yet called 911.

His observations inside the apartment were limited to the entranceway, where he saw Jorge's feet and possibly part of his legs. He did not proceed farther inside and waited outside rather than hear the full emergency call. He could not remember whether Sarah explained playing hide and seek and falling asleep during their phone conversation or after he arrived. Owens reserved defense questions for the defense case, and the court confirmed that Brian remained subject to recall.

In a separate evidentiary discussion, Owens proposed family-law documents to challenge Brian's alleged bias, including claimed nonpayment of alimony. The court questioned their relevance and whether any order established a violation. The discussion ended without a substantive ruling on that proposed impeachment.
